It has been almost 2 months since my last post.. It makes me cringe that I have been so inactive Tumblr-wise and to a certain degree, exercise-and-diet wise. The road has been a little rocky lately; have been bombarded with exams and whatnot, and also was without access to my laptop for about a month because my charger broke, so understandably I didn’t have much of an opportunity to keep you folks updated on how my journey was going. My bad :/

Didn’t fall off the wagon, and don’t intend to, but over the past month or so I did get a little complacent with regards to eating according to my caloric allowance and going to the gym on a daily basis. I think not going on Tumblr and not getting that daily inspiration from my dashboard had an effect on that, not to mention trying to balance regular workouts with studying (more like cramming).

But, I’m back, and I’m back on track. Just got back from the gym, feel amazing, and I’m gonna continue to try to instill that feeling into my blog and inspire the rest of you to feel what I’m feeling too.

Happy dieting & exercising people! :)

Today is the day I reached a fitness milestone.

And to think, if I didn’t go to the gym today, I probably wouldn’t have achieved it.
(And not going to the gym almost happened because I didn’t get a chance till 8pm, which sucks because I hate working out in the evenings, and because I have a huge exam next week that I really need to devote study time to).

But I did it, and although it might seem like nothing to most people, to me it’s something.

And I’m so damn proud of myself.

Ok so basically, I jogged on the treadmill for 20minutes straight, no break, nothing.

I have actually never done that before in my life. Ever.

And the only reason I did it today was because the gym was so packed (and it usually is in the evenings, that’s why I always try to go as early as possible), and I was afraid that if I got off the treadmill after my warm-up then someone else would get on it and I wouldn’t get a chance to do my interval training.

So I started, and just kept going.

For a whole 20 minutes.

And it was easy.

It’s a great and well-timed reinforcement of motivation and drive at an instance when thoughts of giving in to temptation have ever so slowly started to creep in.

Makes me excited about what I might be able to do after another month of working out :))

Delicious. Flavourful. Quick. Easy. Healthy.
Randomly found this recipe almost a year ago and even though its so quick and easy, I never got around to making it.
Until now.
And I wish I’d made it sooner!
It was so simple yet delicious, I couldn’t believe it. And really filling, despite the low calorie value; a 200 calorie serving of this with a side of vegetable soup filled me right up! Perfect post-workout meal.
The only thing I changed with the recipe was that I used brown rice instead of white, and used kidney beans instead of black beans. But all in all, it was really good, definitely a keeper :)

fitvillains:

This picture makes me cry. By no means is it the worst of its kind, but it represents a big problem we have here on Tumblr.

I love Tumblr. I find inspiration here every, single day. I love hearing from you guys, and seeing your familiar names pop up in my dashboard. But in between the recipes, workouts and tips, there’s an alarming (ALARMING, SADDENING, DANGEROUS) amount of Thinspo (pro-thin) and ProAna (pro-anorexia/eating disorders) blogs out there claiming to be pro-health. Some are quite obvious, and others not so much.

I’m not calling anyone out, nor do I think that all blogs with the following signs are terrible. I’m not mad at the girls who run these blogs: this is how they are reaching out and when you’re falling you hold on to whatever you can, including building a community of people who feel the same way. There’s a lot more going on than just the posts, so my purpose is not to bash them but to point out some of the characteristics of a blog that YOU might not want to follow. Communities can be great, but only if they’re helping. Many of these blogs reinforce the hurt we feel, which leaves us weaker not stronger. It’s up to the bloggers to change their tone if they choose. But it’s up to you to make sure the messages on your dashboard aren’t hurting you longterm.

Before you follow, look for some of the signs of an unhealthy blog:
